Copywriting For Websites
Creating promotional copy or content to promote a web site or product has been an oft dreaded task for many people. It does not have to be, especially if you apply some common sense along with unique or unusual thinking. Before you know it, you will be an expert. The tips that follow are sure to have you writing better copy faster and with more ease than you ever imagined.
Stress the uniqueness of the service offered by the web page. This is much more effective than repetitive discussion about visiting the web site. This is not the main objective topic of the article even if it is the desired objective. You want your article to sell the web site based upon its merits and not serve merely as a directional sign. You article should offer some proof of the web site’s merit.
How you say something is every bit as important as what you say. No one likes to be barked at or to hear rudeness or abrupt commands. If you want a positive response, think kindness and courtesy so that customers feel as if they are being offered something terrific, not being ordered to accept something. Try to make the offer sound like an invitation to something anyone would want.
Keep the message short and sweet. No one likes to read a long and possibly boring article if they can avoid doing so. Articles that are long enough to deliver the information without extra words are typically chosen over other articles that may be longer and possible contain less real information.
If a lengthy article is absolutely necessary, then at least write it in a way that is easier on the eyes of the reader. A clearly marked introduction, descriptive section, and a closing statement - with headings, if suitable - will keep the reader focused and on track. Each paragraph should naturally flow into the next.
One of the most effective promotional tools at your disposal is a positive testimonial from a satisfied customer. Readers will put more stock in what you’re saying when they know that other people have tried your product and have enjoyed it. That makes them more likely to try your product too.
The article should mention and highlight some of the features of the product, but the product shouldn’t be the main focus. An ad masquerading as an article will be fairly transparent, and people will quickly dismiss it as propaganda. Instead, try writing the article about a real consumer’s experience with using the aforementioned product or service.
Select the audience you are targeting and direct your article to this group. Targeting your article to a specific group will eliminate the need for lengthy explanations which are unnecessary and unsuitable for the professional. Within your article, you can focus on including the important information you want to communicate to your target audience.
